THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR WEBSITE.
We hope that you find it helpful and informative. Whether you are new to Greer or the surrounding community, a long-time resident, or just visiting we invite you to come and worship with us.
New to the Episcopal Church?
What can I expect?
You can expect to be welcomed! We offer three different services each week. Each has its own style, but all follow the Book of Common Prayer (the red book in the pew) and the Revised Common Lectionary.
Each Sunday's bulletin lists the order of the service with page numbers for both the Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal. In the bulletin you will also find an insert with the Collect (prayer) of the day, an Old Testament reading, a Psalm, a New Testament Reading, and the Gospel passage of the day.
Do you serve Communion?
Yes, at most services Holy Communion is offered. All baptized Christians are invited to receive Holy Communion. Those who do not receive communion are invited to the altar rail for a blessing. Please cross you arms over your chest when you come to the altar rail to receive a blessing. You may also receive prayers for healing.
How should I dress?
Come as you are comfortable. Some of our members may be dressed up, and others will be casually dressed. All that matters is that you are here with us.
What about the kids?
Children and babies are always welcome at any service, but a playroom is provided in the Parish Hall for those who wish to use it. The service is live streamed into the Parish Hall. Busy bags are available for children at the entrance to the church.
How do I become a member of Good Shepherd?
We are delighted to welcome new members into the Good Shepherd family. During the bishop's annual visit we have Baptism, Confirmation, Reception and Reaffirmation. If you are already a confirmed Episcopalian, you may request a Canonical Letter of Transfer from your former parish to the Church of the Good Shepherd. Call (864.877.2330) or email the church office and we will send the request for you.
Where are you located?
We are located on the corner of Cannon Street and Jason Street in downtown Greer, near Greer City Park. Click on the image below for directions from Google Maps.
