| Christian Formation at Good Shepherd
is a full program of classes and activities to nourish the spiritual growth of
our members. We welcome visitors, so feel free to join a class at any time. |
Sunday: Pre-K to 2nd |
Our youngest group is led by Grayson Marpes and Mandy Draper.
We use storytelling methods developed by Sonja Stewart and Jerome Berryman, following the Montessori
method of teaching. We use carved wooden figures, colored fabrics, a wooden
Bethlehem skyline, and even a desert box filled with sand to enrich our Bible stories.
We also learn about things we do as Episcopalians, like using candles, baptizing with
water and changing colors throughout the year. Parents are welcome to visit our class
any time with their children. |
Sunday: Primary, Middle/High School, and Adults |
Our primary students are led by Ann Doscher, middle/high
school students by Julia Peters, and adults by Jeannie Gottrich. All
are following a rich, lectionary-based curriculum called Seasons of the Spirit.
Lectionary-based means that each week's Sunday school lesson is taken from the
same readings used in the church service. The lectionary covers almost the entire Bible
in a three year cycle following the church seasons. |
| Confirmation / Transfer |
| Classes are held each spring for anyone interested
in Confirmation, Reception (transfer to the Episcopal church for those confirmed in the Catholic or Orthodox church), and Reaffirmation (a refresher and renewal of vows taken long ago).
